About The Whirlwind Review

The Whirlwind Review is an online literary journal focusing on the relationship between writing and spirituality.

Editor: Jill Jepson

Contact: contact@writingthewhirlwind.net

Submissions: We are currently accepting submissions from new and established writers for Issue # 2, including:

              Short stories

              Novel excerpts

              Creative nonfiction

              Poetry

              Critical essays

Unpublished and emerging writers are especially encouraged to submit.

Prose pieces should be 3,000 words or less.

Poetry may be up to five poems per submission.

Topics: All work should focus on writing and spirituality, broadly defined. Possible topics include:

Spiritual experience in the writer's life

       Writing and the Sacred

       Writing as a spiritual path

Writing as an aid to other spiritual practices

Writing in any spiritual or religious tradition

       Spiritual journaling

The focus of
The Whirlwind Review is broad. We espouse no specific spiritual tradition or approach. Submissions may focus on particular religious denominations or be spiritual in a broader sense. They may relate to traditional religious experience or nontraditional spirituality.

How to Submit: Please submit work as a separate document attached to an email to: contact@writingthewhirlwind.net. Put "Submission" in the subject line. We do not accept print submissions.

Payment: The Whirlwind Review is presently a labor of love, operating on personal contributions, with a tiny budget and a volunteer staff. We hope to grow to the point that we can offer monetary payment. At this point, we cannot.
